Anti-Prop 8, One Woman Show and Old Town Orange

The most interesting part of this week was covering the rally against Proposition 8 (gay marriage ban) on the eve of the start of the California Supreme Court case challenging its constitutionality.

The weather put a little damper on the event but there was still plenty of energy.  Mayor Villaraigosa presided over a ceremony where gay couples who were legally married before Prop 8 renewed their marriage vows.  And as always at these events, there were many colorful characters in the crowd.

A friend of mine who travels between Paris and LA did a one woman multimedia show in a private theatre this week. She is an artist who does the show each year in order to share her French experiences, artistic and personal, with her friends and family back in LA. In a way, the show is a bit like a real-life version of Facebook.

And on a whim, explored old town in the city of Orange.  It’s small but has a few nice places to eat and the best gelato I’ve tasted on U.S. soil at a place called Cafe Lucca.  There is also a store there that sells all things Paris, including their pretty authentic looking macarons.

The only thing I can think of looking at the sign is “No standing on the Swings” (If that is supposed to be a swing) You got to stop hanging out at those swinging places…
