Aix, Google Tricycle and Not Much Else

Took a high speed train trip with my mother down to Aix-en-Provence, rented a car and toured the surrounding area. I really wouldn’t recommend going down to that area in August but we didn’t have a choice so we did it and enjoyed despite the scorching heat.

We stayed at a beautiful little “chambre d’hote” (B&B) called Bastide Saint Gilles that was just outside of Aix; I’d really recommend it if you’re visiting that area.

Explored many small villages in the area, our favorite being the picturesque town of Saint Remy. Visited Cassis and the nearby “calanques”, which are deep limestone valleys with steep sides partly submerged by the sea.

Found out that Google is now using two tricycles to take street view photos of Paris. These tricycles can go into pedestrian only parts of Paris, of which there are many.

I haven’t seen one myself but I found an AP photo of one of these tricycles in the La Defense just outside Paris.

Not much else going on. August is REALLY slow here. Things will start to pick up in about another week or so as everyone heads back into town and Paris slowly comes back to life.
